Keywords:
Maqasid al-Shariah, Legal Awareness, Public WelfareAbstract
Ideally, Islamic education serves as a system for nurturing intellect, morality, and legal consciousness grounded in the values of Maqasid al-Shariah the preservation of religion, life, intellect, lineage, and property. However, the contemporary reality of education reveals a shift toward cognitive and administrative orientations, while the moral and legal-spiritual dimensions of Shariah awareness are often marginalized. This study aims to examine how Maqasid al-Shariah can function as a philosophical foundation for Islamic education in cultivating legal awareness rooted in spirituality, ethics, and rationality. This research employs a qualitative library-based approach, analyzing both classical and contemporary literature on maqasid, Islamic educational philosophy, and legal consciousness. The analysis is conducted using descriptive-analytical methods with conceptual validation through triangulation of literature sources. The findings indicate that integrating maqasid al-shariah principles into curricula and learning processes fosters a sense of justice-oriented, moderate, and socially beneficial legal awareness. This paradigm shifts Islamic education from an indoctrinative model toward a reflective and transformative learning process that nurtures ethically and spiritually conscious individuals realizing the essence of maqasid as a mercy for all creation.
