Islamic Green Economy: Integrasi Etika Syariah dan Keberlanjutan Lingkungan
Abstract
Ideally, the Islamic Green Economy is expected to serve as an alternative economic paradigm that is not solely oriented toward material growth, but also upholds Sharia ethical values in maintaining ecological balance and the sustainability of life. However, in practice, the implementation of a green economy based on Islamic values remains largely confined to the normative level and has not yet been comprehensively integrated into public policies or the Islamic financial system. This study aims to analyze the integration of Sharia ethics and environmental sustainability principles within the framework of the Islamic Green Economy, as well as to formulate a conceptual model that bridges the values of maqasid al-shariah with the sustainable development agenda. This article is classified as library research employing a qualitative approach. The methodology used is descriptive analytical analysis. The findings indicate that the principles of maqasid al-shariah, particularly hifz al-bi’ah (environmental protection), hifz al-nafs (preservation of life), and hifz al-mal (protection of wealth), can serve as both philosophical and operational foundations for the development of an Islamic green economy. Such integration creates opportunities for the development of Sharia-compliant green financial instruments, including green sukuk, productive waqf, and ESG-based halal investments. Thus, the Islamic Green Economy is not merely a moral-religious concept, but can also function as a practical and strategic framework for sustainable economic development.
